So, miles that went before I sleep. And now, after 500 miles on the road today, I'm exhausted and need to sleep. I stopped off in Phoenix to meet up with Kacy, who's as funny and smart and cool as I thought she'd be. I can only hope she thought the same about me, since I was a little tired, having not slept well last night. When I stopped at the California/Arizona border to fill up my gas tank, the thermometer outside said 112 degrees. I still have no idea how on Earth people can live and go about their business in heat like that on a regular basis. And once again, thank heavens for satellite radio. I'd have gone berserk without it, especially on the trip out. That sound you hear now is the "thud" of me collapsing in bed. At least it's a short workweek, though I'll be compressing five days' work into four...

Not yet... leaving tomorrow mid-afternoon. And on the way back, I'm stopping in Phoenix for a mini-meatspace with Kacy. I will help spread Meatspace to the Masses! For some reason, I'm feeling very punk rock this weekend. So, despite the fact that it's just past midnight, here's my Sunday Most Listened-to Song o' the Week... Brand New - "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows" We saw the western coast I saw the hospital Nurse the shoreline like a wound We paint a lover's tryst We're neither clear nor descript We kept it safe and slow The quiet things that no one ever knows So keep the blood in your head and keep your feet on the ground Today's the day it gets tired Today's the day we drop down Give up my body in bed All for an empty hotel Wasting words on lowercases and capitals I contemplate the day we wed Your friends are boring me to death Your veil is ruined in the rain By then you like to do without There's nothing new to talk about And though our kids are blessed, the parents let them shoulder all the blame So keep the blood in your head and keep your feet on the ground Today's the day it gets tired Today's the day we drop down Give up my body in bed All for an empty hotel Wasting words on lowercases and capitals I lie for only you And I lie well Hallelujah. So keep the blood in your head and keep your feet on the ground Today's the day it gets tired Today's the day we drop down Give up my body in bed All for an empty hotel Wasting words on lowercases and capitals...
