Here's a little somethin' something' for your Thursday morning. This song contains one of the strangest lyric lines I've ever heard -- "sex reminds her of eating spaghetti" -- but it's still a cool song by a cool guy. Right-click and save as, yo. Ben Kweller - "Wasted and Ready"

Okay, so I spent the night at the world-famous Friar's Club in Beverly Hills, where I saw Hilary Duff and Blind Date's Roger Lodge, and I also met Rick Dees. Kind of an interesting time, and kind of an interesting mix of characters... especially when your co-workers are trying to scope out women for you in front of your boss. Oy. On another note, one of my least favorite holidays -- Valentine's Day -- is quickly approaching. I hate Valentine's Day. It's completely a Hallmark Holiday™, a fabricated holiday designed by Russell Stover, FTD and Hallmark to generate tons of unnecessary sales. Either you're single and miserable on Valentine's Day, or you're forced to spend oodles of money on your significant other in order to materially reinforce their knowledge of your feelings for them. Wheeeeeeee. I'm going to attempt this meme that I saw on Hilary's blog. I don't remember everything about my senior year of high school, but that's not due to liquor or drugs... I think it had more to do with lack of sleep and disinterest. What year was it? 1993-1994 What were your three favorite bands or musical artists? Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones What was your favorite outfit? A flannel shirt, a black T-shirt from the radio station I worked for and jeans. What was up with your hair? It was a little long. Which made it kind of into a Jewfro. Who were your best friends? Simon, who is the only person from high school I still remotely keep in touch with, and Mike and Mark. Where did you work? My first radio station. Man, that was a blast. I still mourn its passing. What did you do after school? I was on yearbook staff, so I had to spend a few days after school every now and then for that. Worked at the station. Also, I was in marching band (no comments from the peanut gallery, goddammit!), so we had practice after school a couple of days a week too. Did you take the bus? Not too often. Mostly, I drove myself or I hitched a ride with Mike. Who did you have a crush on? This one girl who was in band with me... I think all the guys in my little group of friends wanted her. Did you fight with your parents? Not too much. And my parents were pretty lenient and trusting of me. All of my friends were astonished that whenever we went out at night, they'd have to beg and plead for their curfews to be extended and all I'd have to do is call my folks and tell them "I'm going out, I don't know when I'll be home." Who did you have a CELEBRITY crush on? Damned if I can remember. Did you smoke cigarettes? No. I didn't have my first cigarette until college. Since then, I've been just a social smoker -- maybe one or two a month if I'm around others who are smoking, and now that I'm in L.A. where no one smokes, I haven't had one in probably a year or so. Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack because you were too nervous to find your locker? I had to lug all my books around. My classes were so spread out all over the building that I didn't have the time to go back to my locker and get to my next class. Did you have a clique? A clique? No, we weren't cool pretentious enough to be a clique. It was more of a group of people who liked hanging out with each other. Then again, I had a couple of different groups of people that I belonged to. Did you have "The Max" like Zach Kelly and Slater? Either Bickford's or IHOP. Bickford's wasn't open late, so if we were out past 11pm or midnight, we'd have to go 20 minutes away to IHOP. Admit it, were you popular? I was recognized and well-known around school. But I wasn't one of the über-cool kids. But I'm okay with that. Who did you want to be just like? Umm... me? What did you want to be when you grew up? A radio DJ. Where did you think you'd be at the age you are now? Doing afternoons on a radio station in New York. There were a good number of people who thought that too -- I was reading my senior yearbook a few weeks ago, and I saw more than one person had written something about "we'll listen to you when you're on with Howard Stern" or "years from now, I'll be listening for you on the radio!" I didn't quite go in that direction, but one of my industry friends is one of the people who runs the station that Howard Stern works at, so I guess I'm somewhat connected to that scene... does that count?

I know Apple wants to be the be-all and end-all of music with the iPod. But they still have one of the only mp3 players out there without an FM radio on it. Can I help it? Sometimes, I just like to hear local radio! But Apple is denying me, and as such, I have yet to buy an iPod, as achingly as I want to just run to Best Buy and pick one up right now.

- Note to self: It's "Secret Agent Man," not "secret Asian man." - George Carlin says, "And now a memo from the National Pancake Association: Fuck waffles!" - After careful examination, it turns out there's no way that wall in my bedroom could've moved this morning, so I must've miscalculated and walked into it again. - If a mime falls over in a forest and no one's around to hear it, does it make a sound? - On Friday night, I went to the ATM to pick up some cash before going out, and who pulls up next to me to drop off his drycleaning at the place next door but Vin Diesel? He may be rough and tough, but he's kind of short. - Toilet paper goes over the roll, people.
