So, on one's birthday, what's the type of person you don't want to see? Yes, I'll take psycho ex-girlfriends for $300, Alex! Of course, with my luck, we both showed up at the same restaurant for lunch yesterday -- me with a co-worker, and her with her entire family. Thankfully, they were on the other side of the restaurant, but I noticed when her dad walked right past our table to go to the bathroom.
But overall, it was a good day. I went to dinner with an old friend at one of my favorite restaurants, then we had Coldstone Creamery and went to see
Sideways. I'm still digesting this movie, and while there were parts of it that were intriguing and funny, there were other parts of it that just didn't sit well with me. On the whole, it was okay, but I wouldn't say it was the best of the year.
On the other hand, my parents said nothing about a birthday present either time I talked to them yesterday (which is extremely odd -- usually I know weeks if not months in advance what they're getting me), and when I got home last night, I found a card in the mail from them with a coupon inside redeemable for a birthday present "TBA." Something strange is afoot.
Thank you to everyone to e-mailed, commented, called and attended on Saturday. You all helped make it a really great birthday, and for that, I am thankful.
